Are you (or someone you know):

Stage 1
A welcome from the Officer Commanding
  • ​A brief introduction to the organisation, and an outline of the joining process
​​Tour of the squadron
  • ​A look at our facilities, and also see current cadets as they carry out activities we do day-to-day.
Q&A
  • ​​A chance for potential cadets and their family members to ask any questions that they have

Stage 2
The next step is to come down for your first parade night! You'll take part in a range of activities to learn all about the RAF Air Cadets, the Royal Air Force, and lots of life skills as part of your basic training, known as 'First Class Cadet' training. This includes:
  • About the Air  Cadets
  • Basic foot drill (marching)
  • About the Royal Air Force
  • A History of Flight
  • Airmanship (knowledge about airports and airfields)
  • Initial Expedition Training (camping and fieldcraft)
  • Radio Communciations
  • Map Reading

Stage 3
In this stage you'll receive your RAF blue uniform.
​ There are many different components that make up the uniforms of the Air Cadetse, based on that worn by our parent organisation, the Royal Air Force.
Our Uniform Care and Maintenance page explains how to wear, and more importantly look after, your uniform.


Stage 4
By completing the other steps and finishing your training, you will be a fully-fledged member of the Air Cadets.
After passing your First Class Cadet classification you will be open to the whole range of exciting activities and adventures awaiting you.
