IACE:
"Last summer, I got the fantastic opportunity of being selected to take part in the 'International Air Cadet Exchange' scheme, which involved a three week trip to Hong Kong and China. The exchange is an annual event and each year cadets from a huge variety of countries worldwide are invited to other countries taking part in the scheme. During my visit I got to experience the culture within Hong Kong, learn about their cadet corps and visit popular tourist attractions. We were given a unique insight into Hong Kong's aviation and civil services such as behind the scenes access to their airport and the diving and sea rescue base. It is one of the best things I have ever done with cadets and I have so many memories I can take from the experience as well knowledge of a totally different culture. Not only this, I have forged life long friendships with people from all over the world who were also on the trip, something I value and owe to the ATC and my squadron, who generously helped to fund the experience. It is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity and I implore all cadets to apply for a place as there are so many countries available to go and visit as part of the exchange scheme including Canada, the USA, North Korea, and New Zealand."
